Next Sunday, Patriots, and Falcons will be playing at the NRG Stadium in Houston at 5:30 p.m. CT/6:30 p.m. ET.
If the weather “cooperates,” as Eric Finkelstein NFL’s director of events suggests, the roof of the stadium will remain open. The weather forecast shows a 30 percent chance of rain in Houston, although chances are expected to drop throughout the day.
Performers and expectations
For the halftime of Super Bowl LI, Lady Gaga is scheduled to perform. But a recent petition is now calling for changing her for the Migos, who scored “Bad and Boujee” as their latest hit. Their album Culture was released last Friday as a main course and fans have rushed to sign the petition hosted at Change.org.
The halftime show would be well received, seeing that Migos is Atlanta-based, just like the Falcons, who are lower compared to the New England Patriots when it comes to search interest in Google. In contrast, betting odds according to the Telegraph stand at 4/6 for the Patriots and 5/4 for the Falcons.
Last year, Lady Gaga sang the National Anthem, and for Super Bowl LI it will be Luke Bryan doing the honors. Regarding halftime commercials, there are large expectations for this year’s commercial breaks. According to the New York Times, companies paid an average of $5 million for 30 seconds of coverage. Some of the advertisers are Mr. Clean, Febreeze, Avocados from Mexico, Bud Light, Fiji Water, Mercedes-Benz (directed by the Coen Brothers, starring Peter Fonda), Snickers, and TurboTax.
NFL analyses suggest that playing indoors will benefit Patriots the most, as they beat Texans 27-6 back in 2015 with quarterback Tom Brady scoring two touchdowns. On the other hand, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan crafted 159 touchdown passes and 67 interceptions in their latest 88 indoor games. Even if both teams are at an advantage, odds show that perhaps Patriots could dominate this Sunday’s event.
Where to watch Superbowl LI
To watch the Super Bowl 2017, there are several options, even for those without cable. Fox will stream the game on FoxSportsGo.com and its mobile app. The live stream will be free for all audiences, even for those without an existing cable subscription. The app is available on Android, iOS, Windows, Amazon devices, Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox One, and Roku. Fox’s broadcast will also transmit most of the ads that will be featured on local TV stations.
The Texans logos have been changed for the Falcons, Patriots, and the Super Bowl images. From Associated Press through USA Today, it was reported that a crew of only four men managed to paint the logos on the end zones to be ready for Sunday. When asked about how many hours does it take to prepare the event, Finkelstein stated that he could not even begin to count them as they passed.
“It’s a very long process. The amount of prep and time it takes to get the Super Bowl ready in general is something that takes years. It’s not something that happens overnight,” he stated to Associated Press.
