Unlike Republican candidates, Bernie Sanders has embraced the current state of the election race and tried to convince his supporters attending the DNC to vote for Hillary Clinton.

His petition was met with booing, but he kept on pressing the idea that Democrats have to join forces to defeat Trump, as his campaign has relied on demagogy and bully tactics to give voice to the frustration of the American people, rather than proposing viable solutions that have global implications. The crowd that Sanders addressed paid no mind and answered chanting “we want Bernie.”

“We have got to defeat Donald Trump and we have got to elect Hillary Clinton,” Vermont senator Bernie Sanders stated to the crowd.

Hillary to fight for her seat in office

People are still reluctant about voting for Clinton, mainly because the email server scandal that has haunted her since the beginning of the electoral race. Sanders had to wait for his supporters to calm down to then insist once more on the fact that Trump must be defeated and that Hillary should be elected as President of the United States.

Signs and chants of “Hillary for prison” were common at the first day of the DNC in Philadelphia. Some voters have chosen to “vote Republican” due to Clinton’s email scandal, which is a fallacy as Trump does not represent the Republican party’s goals, as many GOP politicians have chosen to distance themselves from Trump and his provocative speeches.

But according to the New York Times, most of Sanders supporters attending the DNC are in fact Clinton supporters as well, as Bernie Sanders has repeatedly advocated for the union of the Democratic party to defeat the real estate mogul.

Many expect a great deal of protests at the DNC, as Republicans are prone to more intense activism. This will also be the first time a woman is selected to lead a major U.S. political party.

But Clinton has not let her hopes up, as she expects that this year’s DNC “highlights success stories,” rather than criticizing what the United States has stood for throughout history.

Many obstacles, only two outcomes

On the other hand, hackers leaked 19,000 DNC emails, revealing the support sentiment of DNC administrators toward Clinton rather than Sanders. The Democratic party launched an investigation and found out that the hackers are from Russia, with ties to the government, which leads to the theory that the Russian administration aims to cause chaos among American voters thus allowing Trump to be elected.

Putin has already shown sympathy towards Trump, hardly a compliment, as it is speculated that a Trump presidency would not support NATO countries if Putin’s Russia attacked them.

Clinton chose Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as a running mate, but unlike Trump, picking Kaine has earned her the trust of other Democrats, among which is Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren one of the most outspoken Trump critics. Warren was considered for the position of running mate, but even if she did not earn the nomination, she has already pledged to give all of her support toward the election of Hillary Clinton as president.

The Democratic National Convention takes place over the following three days at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, exactly one week after the Republican National Convention.
