James Corden, a comedian and the host of The Late Late show, is now the man that is telling the world what is new on Apple’s streaming services, or not entirely. On a two-minute video, Corden is shown trying to impress Apple executives with ridiculous ideas for a commercial that explains the company’s new features in their streaming services.
The Apple Music ad includes James Corden describing weird ideas to Apple’s senior vice president of internet software and services Eddy Cue, Apple Music’s head of global consumer marketing Bozoma Saint John, and Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine.
During the commercial, Corden is apparently asked to give ideas to explain what is new on Apple Music streaming service, but each proposal has nothing to do with the new services nor tells the public what the ad wants to say. Corden’s ideas are just off the track, but amusing.
The video featuring James Corden was broadcasted during the Emmy Awards show on ABC on Sunday night and highlights Apple Music new options for its customers. The streaming service now has 40 million songs available, “thousands of hand-picked playlist based on the music you love” and an offline option to listen to your favorite music even when you are on a plane. The service will be free for three months for new members.
James Corden’s ideas
James Corden first idea to impress Apple executive is himself, giving birth to Justin Bieber who is at the same time giving birth to Anthony Kiedis, who is giving birth to a phone. Bozoma steps in and tells Corden that Apple wants their clients to know they can enjoy thousand of playlist based on their interests.
The British host then starts explaining another idea where he will be every iconic music star in history. Corden then is dressed as David Bowie, Slash, the Spice Girls – he is representing every member of the girl band- and Pharrell. And when Corden is acting as the producer and singer, Pharrell himself appears on the screen and asks him to stop.
The executives tell the Carpool Karaoke host that they only want to tell their users there are new ways to use Apple Music, to which Corden responds with another weird proposal.
Now, he is on a convertible, driving through a desert, where he sees a small boy. He stops and approaches to the kid who says he is thirsty. Then Corden says he will give him an iPhone.
“Why don’t you give him water?” Iovine exasperatedly asks.
Corden’s last idea to promote the new Apple Music and its 40 million songs is him, dressed in a suit, diving into the ocean and swimming surrounded by 40 million apples.
None of Corden’s concepts explains what Apple is really trying to say, but executives and some text at the end of the ad highlight what Apple Music is featuring now.
The all-new Apple Music ad and James Corden role come after Apple ordered 16 episodes of the Late Late Show host’s Carpool Karaoke. They will stream first exclusively on the service, and there is already a ride with Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.
