Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley are part of the cast of HBO’s new mini-series based on the book with the same title “Big Little Lies.” The series follow the life of three mothers that are linked to their kids. Home Box Office released the trailer Saturday and shows “life, dreams, mystery” and no monsters, yet. In the trailer, people can see Shailene Woodley, Reese Witherspoon, and Nicole Kidman’s characters. Witherspoon is answering what she sees outside the windows while the trailer is going and you can also see Kidman and Woodley’s characters, their kids, sex scenes and an intriguing gunshot. The motif in the trailer: the ocean.
The network managed to show its audience the right amount of information without revealing too much and still keeping future fans interested in the 7-chapter new show.
The mini-series is described as a dark comedy and is based on the 2014 book of Australian Liane Moriarty. Nicole Kidman, 49, and Witherspoon, 40, are also producing the show, which is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée. Vallée is known for directing “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Wild.”
The story
The novel follows three mothers from Southern California and their perfect lives that start to crumbled. Madeline, Jane, and Celeste (played by Reese, Shailene, and Nicole, respectively) are mothers of first-graders who are connected by their kids, and apparently, also a murder. When the children become friends, secrets start to be revealed.
Moriarty’s book description says that Madeline is a newly divorced mom whose children ends up in the same class as her ex-husband and his new wife’s daughter. Celeste has twin boys, and she is trying to be the head of the school’s parent body with her husband. What people do not know is that Celeste is dealing with various family issues that will make her collapse soon or later.
Jane is said to be a single mom, new in town, which allows her to become friends with Madeline and Celeste. Jane brings troubles in town with her arrival and has secret doubts about her son. So far, no one knows how much the series will differ from the book.
HBO has not announced a date for the release of the intriguing show but said it would premiere in 2017.
The cast also includes Alexander Skarsgard, Adam Scott, and Laura Dern.
