Ramen based burgers will now be available across the United States starting April 4th, for a short period of time. Red Robin, the gourmet burger chain, has announced the national release of the ramen noodles burger. The so-called Red Ramen Burger will offer customers a beef patty squished under ramen buns.
Ramen burgers made their first appearance when chef Keizo Shimamoto, made it famous back in 2013. The chef sold the burgers in Los Angeles and New York by the name of Ramen Shack.
Chef Shimamoto who is known for the love he shares with Ramen noodles made the burger into one of the country’s trendiest foods. Shimamoto’s burger consists of fried ramen noodles used as buns, accompanied with patties, lettuce, onions, scallions, pickles and what the chef calls his “special adding”.
Red Robin’s addition to the menu comes as a response of Shimamoto’s ramen culinary craze.
“We closely follow emerging trends, and when the ramen burger first debuted, our culinary team worked to develop Red Robin’s take on the foodie favorite, enabling us to be the first to offer it nationally” Said Jonathan Muhtar, Red Robin’s vice president and chief marketing officer in a press release.
The burger will be served on a crispy seasoned ramen bun, topped with teriyaki, Chiu Chow aioli, fried jalapeno coins, shredded cabbage infused with chili, carrot, onion and basil.
The chain is also offering Ramen burgers for 22 cents, to the first 22 college students. The offer is available at the same price that a ramen packet costs and is available across the country. An additional $2.22 discount will be available on April 19th, to celebrate Red Ramen Day.
The Red Ramen Burger will be available at all of the chain’s locations until June 5th
