Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s newest music video, “This is what you came for”, was released Thursday night and by Friday, it reached 1.913.671 views and is still counting. The Scottish DJ has been publishing through the week sneak-peek pictures and clips from the hit “This is what you came for” (TWYCF) video shoot. Harris posted the teasers on his Instagram account.
The soundtrack was first released on BBC Radio 1 in April. Rihanna also joined Calvin Harris on stage at his performance in Coachella in the same month.
The official video released Thursday, 47 days after the publication of the Audio Clip tease video of the same song. The audio clip reached more than 62 million views.
Harris’ video was uploaded to the internet the same day he published a three-track remix EP. The three songs are available on iTunes, and they feature reworkings by Dillon Francis, R3HAB & Henry Fong, and Grandtheft.
The TWYCF video starts with a color bar image and a glowing special effects box. Rihanna is inside wearing a gray sparkly see-through dress. There are no other looks in this video, but there are several scenarios. The first one is a deserted landscape; the second scenario is a warehouse or studio and then, a countryside full-of-flowers view. The box is at the center of the green screen.

When Rihanna starts to sing, the white box portrays a nightclub, then a light show, a highway, and a sportive car. The Barbadian singer watches the camera while singing and dancing, going in and out of the box while the landscapes are shown. Rihanna does this from the beginning to the end of the music video.
The track TWYCF is Harris’ but the video clip is all about Rihanna. He only makes short appearances throughout the clip.
The British Emil Nava-directed the video. He has worked with Beyoncé, Kanye West, Usher, Britney Spears, Lana Del Rey and others.
