Last week Apple Store released Square Enix’s Apple Watch exclusive game that continues the Chaos Rings series. The role playing game is about the God of Time that needs to rescue the Goddess of Time fighting time’s cruelty. And even though the Apple Watch screen is 1.6 inches, the game fills it featuring colorful graphics.
The game can be download for $5.66 and lets gamers continue the adventure of the Chaos Rings series, which is a role-playing game (RPG) that has won an important place in gaming history for being developed specifically for mobile devices. Square Enix has a respectful credibility as a real gaming platform, and this fact adds value to the new game for the Apple Watch.
Unfortunately, after the recent iOS hardware, Square Enix was forced to remove the older Chaos Rings games, among other titles, last month because the new device is not compatible with those Square Enix games, TouchArcade reported.
Cosmos Rings is a standard RPG similar to Final Fantasy and Valkyrie Profile. Its images are vivid and full of colors which are an inspiration for the user.
According to Engadget, once Cosmos Rings is downloaded in the Apple watch, the RPG explains the story with artworks and introduces the main characters. It presents additional characters as well and at the beginning, they are a mystery, but later on, they have an important role in the game.
It also offers an offline mode and some quests
The game has a few player controller moves because the God will automatically attack his own. Users can play their part if they wish. The Skills button is located at the lower right of the screen, and it has different attacks. There is a timer on the screen, and if gamers wait for it, they can chain the attacks to cause extra damage.
Fragments in Cosmos Rings are needed to upgrade weapons, skills slots, and time. To use Fragments, which are collected in battles, the player has to rotate the Apple watch’s Digital Crown.
Time is the most important element in Cosmos Rings. There is a timer at the bottom left of the screen that counts down. Gamers need to keep an eye on it because if they run out of time, they will have to start the “day” over. The only scenarios that freeze time are boss battles or when the game tells you a piece of the story. Boss battles take place when the timer hits 3 minutes. Time management is the most challenging aspect of the Square Enix game, according to Engadget.
The story of the God of Time that struggles with time’s cruelty
The game’s narrative involves the quest of the God of Time that wanders the Rift, an endless expanse, to restore the time as it was once known. But the God of Time also has to collect the remains of the Goddess of Time, which shattered into pieces that are throughout the Rift.
Cosmos Rings almost plays itself due to the Apple Watch small screen, but at the same time is perfect for the wrist device. Its neon pixel art fits perfectly the iOS device dimensions and its colors get gamers attention.
