David Robert Jones, known as the rock legend David Bowie, wanted to be cremated in accordance with Buddhist rituals in the Indonesian island of Bali, according to the Associated Press.
The singer of “Space Oddity”, who died of cancer at the age of 69 in January, also left an estate of $100 million, which was received by his family, assistants and a former nanny.
Following Buddhist rituals, Bowie wanted his ashes scattered in the paradisiac island of Bali. He also wrote that he wanted his money to be received by his widow, the fashion model Iman, and his two children, Duncan Jones and Lexi Zahra Jones, according to a 20-page will, that was filed Friday in Manhattan Court.
“I direct that my executors shall arrange for my remains to be taken to the country of Bali and to be cremated there in accordance with the Buddhist rituals of Bali. If that is not practical, then I direct that my executors shall arrange for my remains to be cremated and my ashes scattered in Bali,” wrote David Bowie in a 20-page document that he signed on 2004
According to court papers, the rock legend left an state of $100 million. His widow, Iman, will receive almost $50 million and an luxury Manhattan apartment located on Lafayette Street. However, the payment managements will be controlled by Bowie’s attorneys.
William Zysblat of New York and Patrick Grafton Green of London will be in charge of paying Iman her income, four times per year. That being said, she can request additional funds from the $50 million if she wants to use them for health, education and maintenance, says the will, according to Page Six.
Bowie’s 44-year-son, Duncan, who is also the son of the actress Angela Barnett, will receive approximately $25 million.
