Milwaukee Sheriff, David Clarke, said the Black Lives Matter movement and the anti-police speech were to blame for the recent violent wave in the United States.
CNN Tonight with Don Lemon started last night as usual, but the show suddenly became very awkward and polemic. After the events had reported in Baton Rouge, the anchor received David Clarke in the series to asking about his insight. Lemon asked Clarke what his message was for the North American citizens about the violent incident where three police officers lost their lives, and the interview went south.
The anchor tried to avoid confrontation by asking him what his message was for the people at home, but a frustrated Clarke continued to melt down on black movements and the media. The Sheriff was yelling rather than talking, and Lemon called for a commercial break which probably meant to buy time to cool off things. It didn’t work very well, though.
“My message has been clear from day 1 two years ago, this anti-cop sentiment from this hateful ideology called Black Lives Matter has fueled this rage the American police officer. I predicted this two years ago,” said Sheriff David Clarke at the interview with Don Lemon.
David Clarke says the police brutality against black men theory is “nonsense.”
The Milwaukee Sheriff said the cops treat white men and black men differently approach is based on a lie. According to him, no data supports it, and he blamed the news media for twisting the information. In response, the anchor brought up to the table a Washington Post investigation that says black males are treated more aggressively by police officers. However, Clarke quickly stated that information had been already debunked.
Then, Lemon mentioned a Harvard study that addressed the issue, and the Sheriff claimed the host was misinterpreting said paper. According to the journalist, the study showed that police acted in a more aggressive way toward black criminals, yet he accepted that there was no racial difference in severe shootings. This was a crucial point during the interview because the Sheriff justified the data by saying that African-American men in the United States were more prone to crime than white North American men. In fact, he said that black on black violence was rampant, but nor the news media or the Black Lives Matter supporters say anything about it.
The anchor also pointed out President Barack Obama supported the police brutality against black men theory, and the Sheriff Clarke said the president was lying which is no surprise. On July 8, Sheriff Clarke appeared on Fox & Friends where he called the President “the cop-hater in chief,” even though Obama showed up in Dallas to give his condolences to the police department and the families of the victims.
All in all, the Milwaukee Sheriff has been complaining about anti-cop rhetoric in a very controversial way for two years, and he might do it again tonight at the Republican convention where he is scheduled to speak.
