American producer and TV personality David Gest just passed away at 62 years old in a hotel room at the Four Seasons hotel in London’s Canary Wharf district.
David Gest was well-known as the ex-husband of the actress and singer Liza Minnelli, who were married from 2002 to 2007. Gest was also known for producing the highest-rated musical television special in history, the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Celebration: The Solo Years back in 2001, which was the last reunion of Michael Jackson along with his brothers, and also last Jackson’s solo concert.
Gest was scheduled to go on tour all over the United Kingdom, putting shows alongside with Dina Carroll, Russell Tompkins Jr., and Freda Payne. The “David Gest Is Not Dead but Alive with Soul” tour was a joke one of his co-stars from Celebrity Big Brother show thought that Gest was dead back in 2006.
Gest granddaughter, Stephanie Davis, tweeted about the death of his grandfather. “My heart is broken. Grandad has gone. Last to get a photo with him,” she tweeted. “We made plans and I’m gutted I won’t see you again.”
Also, his friend and former bodyguard Imad Handi was the one who, with great sadness confirmed that David Gest has died today. He also stated that he was a “huge talent”.
Reality without the Reality
Gest was involved into many reality shows, one of them being the iTV’s “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” back in 2006 where he finished in the sixth plane.
After that, he became a judge on talent show “Grease is the Word” and later he made his appearance on “Celebrity Big Brother”, where he has to leave on this last one under medical grounds.
Actually, the police said that it appears to not be suspicious circumstances about his death. Also, the Metropolitan Police said “Police were called at 10:17 on Tuesday 12 April to the Four Seasons hotel, in Westferry Circus to reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s.
London Ambulance Service was called to the scene. Life was pronounced extinct at the hotel. A post-mortem will be held in due course. Next of kin are in the process of being informed.”
