Bethesda Softworks announced Wednesday the release of a DOOM open beta available from April 15 to April 18. Users will enjoy at the shooter’s Team Deathmatch and Warpath modes on the new Heatwave and Infernal maps. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The complete version of the game will come on May 13. Bethesda will offer free new content and three premium multiplayer packs for fans of the first-person shooter series. Downloadable material includes new maps, hack modules, playable demons, weapons, and more, said Bethesda on Wednesday.
“On top of being able to access and play new modes and maps created by your fellow gamers, id plans to offer content updates for SnapMap, including map modules; props and objects; additional features and functionality; AI enhancements; editing tool enhancements” Bethesda said.
Packs of Downloadable Content (DLC) will cost $14.99 while season passes can be obtained for $39.99. The former pack includes three new maps, one new weapon, one new playable demon, one new armor set, one new piece of equipment, new hack modules and taunts, new customization colors and patterns.

Doom developers unveiled recently new information about the gameplay, for the first time ever, players will be able to become a demon in “intense” multiplayer matches. Moreover, combatants can enjoy at new “devastating” power weapons and power-ups that can boost their gaming capabilities.
The multiplayer will include six different modes, offering “countless ways to kill and infinite ways to die”, said Bethesda in a statement. The “Soul Harvest” mode is for killing enemies and collecting the souls of fallen teammates, which have a determined amount of time to be saved.
The “Freeze Tag” mode includes a map of Mars, where players can freeze their opponents in a place, immobilizing them in a block of ice, which can be melted by teammates within a specific period of time. The game also includes “Warpath”, “Domination”, “Team Deathmatch” and “Clan Arena” modes.
DOOM has announced a $120 collector’s edition
The game developer has unveiled a new DOOM collector’s edition, that includes a 12-inch statue of the Revenant, one of the sharpest and strongest demons of the game. The figure was designed by TriForce, using game archives to create a piece with a natural and real look. Moreover, it has an LED-lit to remark the factions of the bold monster. It comes with a copy of the game, for $120, said GameSpot on Tuesday.
