Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premieres today and promises many surprises since there are no books to anticipate what J.K. Rowling wrote in the scripts. The lack of books to read has made the wait even longer but the day has finally come.
Old New York, even when is full of fantastic wild creatures, is a fabulous look that people are eager to imagine but anxious to compare with director David Yates’s view. For the first time since the 2011 Deathly Hallows Part 2, people will get the chance to revisit the Harry Potter universe and wake up one more time the hopes to receive aHogwarts letter.
Mrs. Rowling once stated that she would continue to write about the wizardly world if she came across with an idea worthy to be part of the fantasy story she created. And since she is the primary screenwriter of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, people is expecting the movie to be a great story.
Fans have waited long enough and even when we only have a small clue about the movie -the book that inspired the cinematographic project- the waiting has kept fans in suspense but very excited.
The new peek to Harry Potter’s universe takes place in 1926 New York where, by accident, English Magizoologist Newt Scamander releases various fantastic creatures wich will contrast the 1920’s urban landscape, including a giant eagle.
New York and his habitants with funny accents distract Scamander, and the animals go free through the city, beginning a series of new adventures that will entertain more than a generation for the next five years. And the refreshing aspect of the new stories is that they involved wizards, witches, and humans. Muggles will face for the first time the magic they though it did not exist.
When magic manifests in the muggle world antimagic activists surface and Mary Lou Barebone will certainly do her part to face the creatures and the incredible abilities wizards, and witches have.
The movie will show some creatures from the book that inspired this extension of the Harry Potter Universe. And since producers already announced five movies -including this one- fans expect to go through all the fantastic beasts describe in the book. The second part of Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them is planned for November 16, 2018, and the third one for November 20, 2020.
Eddie Redmayne and his readiness to be Magizoologist Newt Scamander
Redmayne was asked during an interview for Variety if he was worried because now that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them got five movies. It means he could get stuck in character after so many years of being assigned to the same role. But the actor answered that he is not worried because after talking with J.K. Rowling, he actually understood the character she created and now he loves Newt.
Eddie had a meeting with the author of the wizardly world and learned that the soon-to-meet Scamander is a personal character for Rowling. Knowing that helped Eddie to have a sense of who he was playing, in spite of admitting that the author’s characters jump off the page. He still needed some guidance.
Knowing that Newt is a personal character for Rowling only increases the eagerness to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
