Nintendo, based in Japan, is one of the most important companies in the video game sector. The multinational works with electronics and software, but the biggest revenues come from the video-game branch of the company, being one of the most influentials enterprises in the industry.
Gamers all around the world are devoted followers of Nintendo’s steps, and it appears that the next move will be the release of two free mobile games.
About the games
The company announced via their official website that the titles of the games are going to be “Animal Crossing” and “Fire Emblem”, although changes could be made. The most interesting part, however, is their no-cost feature.
In the mobile games industry, renowned developers usually release paid games, based on the quality and degree of sophistication, so being able to play a mobile game developed by Nintendo, for free, is a huge deal for the final users.
In a press release, Nintendo revealed that the games will have “prominent elements”, although they choose not to reveal many details about the app since the company prefers to wait to the launch period in order to make full statements about the games.
According to the company, the target population is not really defined, since the games aim to be accessible to different audiences and types of gamers. In the case of Animal Crossing, is going to be a community simulation game, while Fire Emblem is mostly a role-playing strategy game.
The game is supposed to be free-to-start, which means it can be downloaded and played immediately without having to pay any kind of subscription. It is possible, however, that some in-game purchases are included for further gameplay or special features.
The game currency
Although is still unknown the plot of each game, it is possible that Nintendo uses the game currency formula they implemented in Pokemon Shuffle and Pokemon Rumble, both 3DS games. It works like this: The game is completely free to download and play, but inside the game structure some kind of currency is needed. Once the player runs out of the game currency it has to choose between buying with real money the game currency or wait (sometimes several hours) in order to continue playing.
