On Sunday night, Hollywood welcomed the cast of Game of Thrones for an event celebrating the upcoming Season 6 of the award-winning series. People from all over the seven kingdoms attended the Season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones hosted in Los Angeles at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
The stars of the number 1 series in the United States, and most of the world, reunited for a unique screening of the new season of GoT on Sunday night, followed by a party. At the red carpet, the actors left their rudimentary costumes and dressed up to impress in the wake of the long-awaited season.
Main actors such as Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), made an appearance on Sunday night and even gave a few details of what to expect for season 6. In the last season, fans’ expectations were surely exceeded given that the season finale left major cliffhangers for almost all characters.
Clarke, who magnificently portrays Daenerys, was rescued from an impending death as she flew away on one of her three dragons (Drogon) to unknown lands. Daenerys is later seen alongside Drogon – who is resting from taking several spears to the neck while escaping – and found by the Dothraki (the tribe she used to rule over).
Her loyal followers Grey Worm and Missandei, portrayed by Jacob Anderson and Nathalie Emmanuel accordingly were left in Mereen to rule for Daenerys, accompanied by Tyrion Lannister. Now, the biggest cliffhanger of the season finale of GoT was the death of Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) who has accomplished to become one of the favorite characters in the series.
Fans’ most expected return
On the final episode of Season 5, Jon Snow is betrayed by his brothers of the Night Watch and stabbed to death alongside a sign with the word ‘Traitor’ written on it. Jon Snow begins the series as the bastard son of one of the main characters of season 1 Eddard Stark. However, as the series develops, he feels the need to join the Night’s Watch and ventures to the Wall, where he figures out what he is meant to do.
As the series takes place in a fantastic land where giants, frozen zombies, and dragons are possible, there’s still a chance for Snow to come back from the death. Enter Melissandre, the red woman (Carice van Houten) who portrays a seductive sorceress able to ‘see’ the future in the fire, and supposedly has the ability to bring people back from the dead.
Nevertheless, her importance in the new season of GoT could be greatly exaggerated by fans that only want to see Jon Snow survive the latest season. Game of Thrones’ Season 6 will premiere on April 24 on HBO (Home Box Office), and will surely get fans bending over backwards in their seats while watching its first episode.
