Last Thursday, Green Day performed “Bang Bang,” the latest single out of their new album “Revolution Radio” on The Tonight Show with host Jimmy Fallon.
Frontman Billy Joe Armstrong delivered a solid and energetic show, a flagship for the band’s proposal in Revolution Radio, trying to blur their last studio production “¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!” which was deemed by fans as lackluster and unwelcome.
Revolution Radio is the twelfth studio album by the punk rock veterans. It will be hitting stores and online services on October 7.

The American punk veterans make a comeback
Following the 2012 release of the ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! trilogy, fans were unsure of what the band was trying to do, as Billy Joe Armstrong told Q Magazine that he was on drugs at the time, believing that his life was normal when it actually wasn’t.
The punk frontman acknowledged that the trilogy had no sense of direction and he and the band just tried to be prolific without any general feelings of accomplishment.
But regarding Revolution Radio, Armstrong has noted that it is a record about trying to find common ground and returning to one’s own consciousness when everything seems to be distorted. He stated that the band’s new album would be “”inspired by confusion and just trying to make some sense of where you stand in the world there’s a lot of chaos going on. That’s a big theme through all of Green Day’s history – feeling lost.”
Armstrong was open about his situation while the ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!, the trilogy, was being produced. He attributed some of its flaws to memory loss caused by cocaine. He remembered the events and wished he had sat back and “kinda done nothing for awhile.”
For Revolution Radio, the band chose to produce the record by themselves, distancing themselves from producers who have worked with them for years. Armstrong told Rolling Stone that he wanted Green Day’s members just to be in contact with each other. He also commented that the band’s musical skills have improved since and may be at their best in years.
Revolution Radio has received good reviews from critics, which has led fans to wait for the punk trio’s triumphal return patiently.
