New details about the suicide of Jim Carrey’s former girlfriend, Cathriona White, have been revealed. Cathriona, 30, took her life in September 2015.
She overdosed on multiple prescription medications. Apparently, police found at the time a suicide note addressed to Carrey. TMZ reported details about what the letter says.
“I’ve spent 3 days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don’t have the will this time,” she wrote in the note. She added, “I’m sorry you felt I wasn’t there for you. I tried to give you my best part.”
Days before the suicide was reported, the couple had split up
White committed suicide days after breaking up with Carrey, according to details of the note revealed earlier. The Irish makeup artist and the Canadian actor met in 2012 and had been in an on-and-off relationship ever since.
Dennis Bradshaw, a close friend of White’s, told the police in the autopsy report that, though White had mentioned that she missed her family in Ireland, she could not leave Jim since she was “madly in love” with him, according to People. She added that as far as she knew, the relationship was a “rollercoaster.”
The report also mentions that the makeup artist was married to Mark Burton, a cameraman from Los Angeles, since 2013. They were separated by the time she was dating Carrey. Burton said that he was aware of White’s suicidal tendencies and depressive episodes. A source told TMZ that she had tried to kill herself with pills in 2012, shortly after her father passed away. Her suicide coincided with the third anniversary of her dad’s death.
“I don’t really know about burial or that sort of thing. You are my family so whatever you choose will be fine,” White wrote in the note about her funeral:
A toxicology report released by Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office revealed the variety of the prescription pills found in the young woman’s system. It includes propranolol, zolpidem, oxycodone, Percocet, and oxymorphone. The investigator Kelli Blanchard said in the autopsy report that no signs of other injuries were detected in Cathriona’s body, according to Mirror.
The police found the lifeless body on her bed at her Los Angeles home. The officers reported that they found three bottles of prescription pills on the bedside table. Further investigation found text messages from Carrey on White’s phone, asking where his painkillers and his anti-inflammatories were. According to the report, the bottles found at her bedside table were the ones Carrey was looking for, along with other prescription pills White regularly took.
Days later, Carrey broke his silence about the tragic event. He released a statement, where he mentioned how shocked he was about the death of her “sweet Cathriona.” He added, “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”
“Please forgive me. I’m not for this world,” she wrote in her note.
