HTC Corporation launched on Tuesday an unlocked edition of their new phone HTC One A9. The phone will have Android’s most advanced software system and will be the only Android phone on the market capable of getting updates as soon as 15-days after Google bring them to the Nexus line of devices.
HTC claimed that the new One A9 smartphone design predates the look and feel of the iPhone 6 or 6s. Moreover, with this new mobile you can partially work by installing the Google Now Launcher and other Google apps and software is not required.
“What we see is an opportunity. The problem is when you buy an iPhone, you really are submitting your mobile life to one company who is deciding what is good for you […] the A9 should really appeal to Apple users who are interested in doing something else but they’re not seeing a product that checks the boxes for them,” said Jason Mackenzie, HTC’s president for the Americas in an interview.
Better view, better sound, and better design
The One A9 has a 5-inch full HD display, octa-core Qualcomm processor, fingerprint sensor and 32GB of memory, upgradeable through micro SD to 2 terabytes.
According to the company, the A9 is the smartphone that gets all the important elements right. The HTC One A9 sets a new design standard, features a super-thin metal frame, expandable SD card memory and edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It has the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a system that save more image details for unsurpassed editing and creative control with RAW capture in Pro mode. Built-in DAC converts 16-bit audio to 24-bit high-resolution sound for richness and depth that you have never heard from a smartphone. Unlike other devices, the One A9 highlight features include Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The new HTC One A9 will be available next month, under a promotional price of $399.99. The phone will initially be compatible with the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile networks and, any time soon, through a software upgrade, with the Verizon Wireless network.
“The big takeaway is that there is some smartphone fatigue out there,” said Mackenzie in a web interview.
