Disney and Pixar fans can get excited because The Incredibles 2 is getting out sooner than expected. The movie’s original premiere date was set for June 2019, but it was announced that the release has been moved a year earlier. Now it will be airing on June 15, 2018.
This announcement was certainly not expected. Pixar and Disney like to take their time to launch new movies. People are guessing that the reason behind this is that the film is going to be very good. It will not be easy to satisfy the expectations of the public. The first Incredibles movie aired on 2004 making 633 million dollars globally in its November launch, and $70.4 thousand of them were only in the United States.
Pixar´s sequels
Pixar has always been very cautious about making sequels, probably because they want to give the best one possible, always looking to escalate a step forward of quality. Bob Iger -Walt Disney Company CEO- announced The Incredibles 2 in March 2014, ten years after the premiere of the first one.
People will be expecting the best of the best from The Incredibles 2. They want the best in the script, the animation, the whole story. The demand is now higher than ever. But this news may be showing that this is a big project, ready to impress every fan out there.
On the other hand, Toy Story 4 will be airing later than announced before. It was supposed to be in summer 2018; now it will be on June 21st of 2019. This is another movie with the bar set way too high. After all, Toy Story 3 made history. It collected 1.067 billion dollars at the global box office, being the first animated movie to join the billion-dollar club. Movies such as Frozen, Zootopia, Finding Dory and Minions followed it afterward.
This could be the motive behind everything. There are already three Toy Story movies out there. Maybe they want to take more time to polish every tiny detail for it to be a very good fourth movie. On the other side, it has been two years since the announcement of Incredibles 2, being clear that they have taken the time to make it a memorable sequel.
There is nothing left for us to do, rather than wait very patiently -like every time we wait for another movie. It is sure, though, that the cinemas will not only be filled with kids but with adults -who remember The Incredibles as a happy memory from their childhood as well. In the meantime, Cars 3 is getting out next year, after two funny prequels.
