Recent leaks of information have revealed details about the prices, color options and the edge’s battery size of the soon to be launched Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The new phone will be presented on February 21 at the “Unpacked” event in Barcelona.
The price is known to be competitive against the iPhone. The 35GB Galaxy S7 and 35GB Galaxy S7 Edge will cost approximately €699 and €799 ($788 and $893), respectively. It represents a drop of €50 from the last smartphone launched by Samsung, the Galaxy S6, and S6 Edge, as the leaks published by Forbes said.
Compared to the iPhone’s last launching price, the Samsung’s amount is a more competitive one. The 16GB iPhone 6S and 16GB iPhone 6S Plus had an introductory price of €739 and €849 ($825 and $950) in Europe, respectively.
If the selling price in Europe is low, is seems very likely that phone carriers in the U.S. will offer the new smartphone at a similarly low cost. Experts said that American carriers will sell the Galaxy S7 at a price between $50 and $100 lower than the introductory Galaxy S6 price, but it would depend on the selling company.
Samsung is also allegedly adding to the new smartphones a free Gear VR headset to clients that pre-order the Samsung S7 before it launches, as an incentive to buy the product.
The colors available, according to Evan Blass, a credible phone leaker, appear to be black, silver and gold. But other sources differed that the colors will include white instead of silver. It will be odd to see that Samsung does not launch a smartphone in white, but mixed information have been gathered.
Information related to the battery said that the S7 Edge will have a 3600 Mah battery, according to FCC filings. This means an increase of 1000 mAh compared to the previous Galaxy. With a battery like that, the device could be able to support at least 24 hours of talk time, 18 hours of video playback and 69 hours of music playback.
