The latest image on Jeb Bush Twitter account has become an instant meme, reaching an incredible amount of 40,000 retweets. It’s worth noting that a certain segment of the population are not offended by Bush’s tweet, and it can even be seen as patriotic.
However, it seems the majority of people disagrees with the linkage between Americans and guns. The fact this image has gotten so much attention on the Internet is because it was a Presidential candidate who posted it.

Former Florida governor posted the image on twitter after a visit to the weapons maker FN Manufacturing in Columbia, South Carolina. The reactions online, however, have been focusing on making fun of Jeb Bush on a personal level, rather than criticizing his politics. And although is giving Bush an amount of attention never seen before on his Twitter, the effects on his presidential campaign remain to be seen. For now, Mr. Bush is in fourth place with about 10 percent of the vote, according to recent opinion polls.

Celebrities waged in response to Bush’s tweet
Many celebrities have been uploading pictures of themselves with an image of their representation of ‘America’, as Bush depicted with only an engraved gun.
Edward Snowden was one of the first to wage in on Bush’s twitter post, which he also retweeted with the comment “Delete your account”. People also made reference to the increase in gun violence nationwide.

Several tweets with the caption ‘America’ included not only pictures of other people’s guns and weapons, but also photos of crime victims. The photos of the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook School massacre in 2012 were one of them.
