Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco is divorcing tennis player Ryan Sweeting after 21 months of marriage. The couple has decided to end their marriage while citing irreconcilable differences.
The couple first filed for their divorce on September 2015 and, on May 6, 2016, the couple finalized their marriage through court.
Thanks to a prenup Cuoco had organized for her then-husband to sign, she gets to walk away with all of the money made on her show while Ryan Sweeting does not get anything from that money.
21 months of happily ever after
The 29-year-old actress married tennis player Ryan Sweeting on December 31, 2013, after dating for three months. Now the couple has ended their marriage months away from their two year anniversary.
The first announcement was made through Cuoco’s representative, who assured the couple needed privacy at this difficult time, yet it had been a mutual decision.
Rumors of the breakup had been storming on the internet and in social media. The actress responded to those rumors with an Instagram statement assuring she was more than proud of her husband and the person who he is.
Yet the couple has now been officially separated and thanks to prenuptial agreements there will not be any money fights.
Kaley Cuoco had prepared a prenup agreement that stated all of the money made by her on the show, will still remain in her custody. The actress had signed a few months before getting married a contract that paid her $1 million per episode on the Warner series.
The signed contract stipulated 72 episodes, which translates into $72 million that will remain in her bank account. The actress also keeps the Tarzana house the couple used to lived in and the Santa Barbara house they owned.
Meanwhile, her ex-husband gets a payment of $165,000 and any cash and gift certificate he owned before getting married.
