Despite the legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, Kesha surprised her fans with her performance at the Coachella festival this weekend. The 29-year-old singer shared the stage with Zedd to sing on the EDM star’s song “True Colors.”
Excited members of the audience posted videos of the “Tok Tok” singer all over the country while she flexed her vocal range at the performance with Zedd. Since the controversy with the Sony’s producer, Kesha took a break from live performances, so this is her first public performance in months.
Zedd has been supporting Kesha since he found out about what she’s been going through
In October 2014, the “Die young” singer filed a suit against Luke, her manager, in which she accuses him of drugging, raping and verbally and emotionally abusing her during their decade-long working relationship. Luke has denied the accusations and has got free of charging.
Earlier this month, the court of New York dismissed Kesha’s claims, but the lawsuit to end her recording contract with the producer will continue. Kesha isn’t willing to take back her allegations against Dr. Luke, according to a message she posted on Instagram two weeks ago.
Zedd, among many other music celebrities, expressed public support to Kesha during her lawsuit. After reading on an article that Kesha’s request for an injunction to put her contracts on hold was denied, Zedd, that didn’t know Kesha personally back then, tweeted her:
“Very very sorry to hear about the whole situation,” he wrote. “I’ll be happy to produce a song for you if you want my help.”
Kesha’s next performance will be at Dylan Fest, in Nashville, Tennessee, in May.
