Redwood City, California – Meta, the creator of a new augmented reality system, has begun taking pre-orders for Meta 2 Development Kit, the first augmented reality (AR) product that lets you touch, grab, and move digital objects naturally, as you would do in the real world.
The Meta project was created in 2012 with its first model which used Vuzix glasses with the Kinect motion-detecting system, totaling more than $10,000. Their initial Meta device that came out in 2014 was $675 and now the company in introducing its new and improve latest technological innovation called Meta 2.
The company presented the gadget at a recent TED meeting. Meta 2 brings a new technology that the organization has said is a cutting-edge feature in the industry of augmented reality as thanks to it, users will be able to touch, get and move these things in a natural way, similar to the actions in real life.
The most important new product since the original Macintosh
At TED 2016 Meta 2 was hailed as one of the most significant technology announcements in recent years. Robert Scoble, Technology pundit and futurist who had the opportunity to attend the demonstration even called Meta’s AR headset “The most important new product since the original Macintosh computer”
These impressive reactions came thanks to three key advantages only available for Meta 2 Development Kit. These advantages include the widest field of view, Intuitive Access to Digital Information and Direct Hand Interaction.
Meta 2 has a visual field of view of 90 degrees and a High-definition display that allows 20 pixels of high resolution per degree. With this major feature, users will no longer be limited to screen size, making it easier to work, collaborate, and create or design.
If the largest FOV yet in the market is not enough for you, the system also has been developed to work in the most intuitive way for the brain. This means Meta 2 allows people to easily access, manipulate, and share digital information in ways that are natural and enhance productivity and collaboration. To do so, Meta 2 count with 3D modeling and Remote collaboration.
Finally, Meta 2 brings its direct hand interaction technology. The headset is hand-controlled, but not as we are used to. With it, no input device like a mouse or a keyboard is required.
By using onboard cameras, this gadget makes it possible for you to hand interact. With them, users will be able to see digital content, grab it, and move it by hand just as they would do with any physical object.
