Thriller by Michael Jackson, has become the first album to be certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for being 30 times multi-platinum.
In this way, the eight Grammy Awards winner disk remains as the best seller of all time, exceeding 100 million copies worldwide, announced the RIAA, with the Estate of Michael Jackson, Epic Records and Legacy Recordings.
Produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson, “Thriller” was launched on November 30, 1982. Staying for nearly two and a half years in the Billboard charts and having the record of being 37 weeks at number one.
According to Billboard, RIAA chairman and CEO Cary Sherman said in a statement: “RIAA has awarded Gold & Platinum records on behalf of the music business for nearly 60 years, but this is the first time an artist has crossed the 30X multi-Platinum plateau.”
In 1984 he was certified as multi-platinum 20 times, and now he becomes the first album in Gold & Platinum history that has been certified 30 times multi-platinum for sales in the US.

Even, Michael Jackson entered the Guinness World Records book as the most successful entertainer of all time, recognizing “Thriller” as the biggest selling album.
