Microsoft announced on March 7th the cancellation in a big selling Xbox game, Fable Legends as the result of the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios, the game development company.
Hanno Lemke the General Manager of Microsoft Studios in Europe announced the closure of the Fable Legends franchise, as a repercussion of Lionhead Studio’s closing. Lemke made the announcement via Xbox website, assuring the difficult changes that are being made in Microsoft Studios and projects regarding UK and Denmark.
Fable Legends, is a cooperative action role-playing video game available for all Xbox consoles and for PC playing in Windows 10, it was developed by Lionhead Studios and published by Microsoft Studios in 2014.
The game was intended to have a 5 to 10-year lifecycle and it was promised to be integrated with Microsoft’s SmartGlassIt was based on four heroes and a villain in a magic and mythological world. In a multiplayer platform with a free-to-play model
“After much consideration, we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios” Said Lemke in the statement.
The company also announced the closure of Press Play Studios in Denmark and the development on Project Knoxville, the project that developed games like Max: The curse of brotherhood and Kalimba. Games that had a great amount of fans in the gaming world.
General Manager Hanno thanked the members of Lionhead and Press Play to the gaming industry and to Xbox. Players who had accessed Fable Legends Beta will be able to play the game until April the 13th and will be refunded the purchases in the game.
Microsoft Studios assured that the changes made are taking effects in the focus and investment on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting to play.
