Motorola announced its new smartphone family, and it’s named ‘Moto G’.
The company is targeting the forgotten customer, the one who wants a fast smartphone with a great camera and a decent battery. 3 new devices enter the scene, introducing the new Moto G, Moto G PLUS and the Moto G Play. The G series was officially announced at the company’s blog on May 17, 2016.
There is a lot of interesting specs about this G family that catch the everyday user’s attention. For example, the promise of a full day lasting battery, which would make the phone stand out.
“When it comes to smartphones, sometimes we feel let down. The things that matter most — like taking great photos at our kids’ soccer games, video chatting with mom or having all-day battery life — simply don’t live up to our expectations.” The post reads “It shouldn’t be this way. Smartphones should focus on technology that prioritizes the things people really care about”
Motorola’s device line up
Moto G4 shows up with three champions, and each of them intends to storm a different arena. One of the interesting things about the marketing strategy is how directly the company says this phone is better than the iPhone 6S.
First, there is the Moto G, which is supposed to be the all-rounder phone with an affordable price. It has 5, 5” HD display teaming up with a 13mp camera, so users can go nuts with high-quality pics. Accordingly, the phone also has a processor with eight cores, which is a lot of thinking, the kind you need to run your through apps without delay.
To keep everything running, there is a 3000 mAh battery, but there is nothing really new in this aspect. However, Motorola’s new charging technology might be the perfect solution for many people that are always on the run. Supposedly, if you are running out of battery, you can charge the phone for 15 minutes, and it will continue running for six more hours, the feature is called TurboPower.
Then, we have the high spec version, the Moto G PLUS. The differences are not many, but for some people, they are going to be worthy. The PLUS version has a 16mp camera, and according to DxOmark, a famous company that rates lenses and cameras, the Moto G PLUS’ rank is near the top, above IPhone 6 and IPhone 6S. There is another useful tweak for impatient people. Moto G PLUS has a fingerprint system which wakes up the phone in a faster and more reliable way. However, there are no details on how many fingerprints you can authorize or if you can change it after a while.
Last, but not least, we have the Moto G play that comes with a quad-core processor and a pretty decent 2800 mAh battery. The idea is to play without having to plug the phone to the charger every 2 hours.
The Moto G and G PLUS support the Moto Maker feature, but their little brother, G play, does not. The phones are already in Indian and Brazilian markets, so we won’t wait a lot for customers’ reviews.
