Las Vegas, Nevada – Vince Neil, lead singer of the heavy metal rock band Mötley Crüe, was accused on Thursday of physically attacking a woman on Thursday. He is now the subject of a criminal investigation.
Police officers confirmed that the fight took place at around 5 PM at Aria Hotel on the Vegas strip. Neil was inside the hotel in the company of Actor Nicolas Cage when a woman came up to the actor and asked him an autograph. Sources said Vince allegedly got behind the woman, grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground.
Nicolas Cage interfered calming Neil down
A video recorded at the end of the alternate shows how the Oscar winner actor physically confronted Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil in an attempt to subdue the singer in order to calm him down.
Cage can be heard yelling at Neil, “Stop this now!” as he physically restrains the singer.
In the video, Neil can be seen moving towards Cage outside the hotel. The actor then grabs Neil around the neck and restrained him.
The end of the video shows Neil giving into Cage’s embrace and the actor telling him “You’re OK,” and “I love you.” A security guard intervened to calm people around the scene down.
Neil cited for battery
Neil was not taken to the police station, but Laura Meltzer, a public information officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, confirmed to USA TODAY that the singer was cited for misdemeanor battery against a female fan.
Neil, or someone on his behalf, will have to appear in Las Vegas court on June 17 unless the alleged victim chooses to settle the dispute privately. She filed a report accusing the singer of grabbing her hair and pulling her to the ground.
His attorney, David Chesnoff, told the Associated Press that he’s investigating the allegation and the public shouldn’t prejudge the situation.
