Cup series are on their way a NASCAR has yet to find a new series sponsor for 2017. Although the automotive giant has a deal with Sprint until 2017, it needs to find a sponsor able to match the company’s necessities and expenses that can reach up to $50 million a year in the sport.
Considering that previous NASCAR sponsors have included lead brands like Nextel and Craftsman, the automotive company needs to lock a deal as soon as possible, after the Spring Cup is held at the Daytona International Speedway. In previous agreements, NASCAR would set a 10-year deal with the sponsor, including Nextel and later Sprint.
However, this year has put stress on finding a sponsor, as the company wants to work out a fair deal without weakening the contract under pressure. It’s worth noticing that series sponsor requires a wealthy amount of coin to spend in order to keep up the racing company afloat. Within the benefits of sponsoring NASCAR cup series, there are agreements establishing a deal with the track for the additional presence of displays, understandable hospitality and a VIP suite.
However, this also comes with new sanctioning agreements requiring the sponsor to get the series logo in various spots around the facility. As the search for a sponsor that could match the racing company motto and fits its brand was turning desperate, it appears as if NASCAR found a perfect fit but it’s not a new one. The tool company Craftsman was a former sponsor of NASCAR’s truck series for years, so it’s a no-brainer the racing company prefers making a deal with Craftsman.
Bearing in mind that NASCAR fans like cars, it is safe to assume a significant percentage likes to maintain their vehicles and know about engines. This makes a series sponsor like Craftsman the perfect fit for the sport. In addition, the company’s Craftsman Club Members, have shown passion for motorsports with the added benefit that they’re already big Craftsman customers.
