Nintendo (TYO: 7974) said Wednesday it will present its new video game platform called “NX” on March 2017, according to a news report sent to investors. Earnings of the Japanese video game developer fell 60.6 percent to $148 million, on revenue of $4.54 billion from the last fiscal year.
Tatsumi Kimishima, president at the company, said the “NX” will offer a “brand-new concept”. Nonetheless, no further details about the console were revealed in the 2015 earnings release, as reported by Nintendo News.
On Wednesday, Nintendo’s stock price fell from 0.87 percent to $18.72 a share. Analysts suggest that the company has been affected by weak sales of Wii U consoles during the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Also, the prevalence of smartphones and tablet games may be impacting the Nintendo 3Ds dominance.
The presentation of the new “NX” has caused expectation among fans and investors who still bet for Nintendo. The latter has also deployed a new strategy, to reach the market of mobile devices by presenting new apps and games such as the Miitomo social app.
Miitomo was the result of a collaboration between Nintendo and the mobile game company DeNA. Products for mobile devices could attract new possible customers, to buy the new generation of consoles, soon to be presented.
The company said in a report that sales will continue to decline by 1 percent to $4.49 billion. However, the operating income could grow from 37 to 45 percent, to $404.9 million, according to a report from VentureBeat.

The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will be playable at the E3
The “NX” will not appear at the Electronic Entertainment Expo that will take place between June 14-16, in Los Angeles. However, the company “will focus its attention on the upcoming titles”. Kirby: Planet Robobot and Metroid Prime: Federation Force will be released in the coming months.
“The Wii U version of Zelda will be playable for the first time on the E3 show floor, and it will be the only playable game Nintendo presents at the show, in order to provide attendees a complete immersion.” Said the company in a Europe press release issued Wednesday, according to Nintendo Life.
