Nintendo presented on Friday a new trailer of the awaited Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, which will be available for the Nintendo 3DS family on these 2016 holidays. Also, in order to celebrate the franchise’s 20 years, the Pokémon Company re-released Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow.
Since the first titles of Pokémon Red and Pokemon Green were unveiled in 1996 for the Game Boy console in Japan, the franchise has sold more than 275 million copies worldwide. According to J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing at Pokémon, he cannot wait to see what fans think of the new adventures they will find in the new Sun and Moon titles.
“The Pokémon core series games are the center of the Pokémon universe and provide some of the most memorable Pokémon moments for our fans,” he added.
Few details of the game were revealed during the announcement, however, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will be the first games of the franchise to support nine languages, adding Traditional and Simplified Chinese, said Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO and President of The Pokémon Company in a Nintendo Direct broadcast Monday.
Pokémon Bank: cloud-based application to store and manage Pokémons
Players will be allowed to transfer the Pokémon creatures they have caught in the Nintendo 3DS versions of Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y, into their copies of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon, using Pokémon Bank, according to executives from the company.
Pokémon Bank is a cloud-based app and service, for users who want to deposit, store, and manage their Pokémon in private boxes on the Internet, to play with them in different titles of the franchise. Bank is a paid service that costs $4.99, wrote Pokémon in a statement.
By downloading Pokémon Bank, players will also obtain access to “Poké Transporter!” to transfer Pokémon from Black and White Game Card versions into their own online boxes.
Re-release of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow versions
On Monday, Nintendo and Pokémon executives said that eShop versions of the original Game Boy Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow versions will be released for Nintendo 3DS. Pokémon creatures caught on the eShop versions can be also transferred to the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Mr. Tsunekazu Ishihara, said that for the first time, communication issues between Game Boy games and the Nintendo 3DS were solved since players will be able to use Pokémon Bank to manage their Pokémon.
