This is Obama’s final dinner at the White House, where he left just after some sarcastic jokes at Donald Trump, The Republican Party, even of his fellow Democrats. Trump’s jokes were the hardest during his humorous speech and then he left the audience waiting until the end of the punchiest lines.
The event hosted many Hollywood stars, politicians and Carrie Fisher’s dog mingled at this year’s White House Correspondents’ dinner, where it also include the performance of Larry Wilmore of “The Nightly Show.” About 3,000 guests were invited to the White House Correspondent dinner, where celebrities from Aretha Franklin to Kendall Jenner.
Prominent politicians at the event included Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry, Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Obama roasted everyone
From Republicans to Democrats, also celebrities and the new classic “Trump jokes” were on at the dinner, and even making some “Game of Thrones” references, where he compared the dinner to the show well-known Red Wedding, joking about that he should lock-in the Republicans at the dinner, and then hold Merrick Garland’s confirmation hearing for the Supreme Court.
Obama started out with a few words, where he expressed that it was an honor to be there at his last White House Correspondents Dinner.
Even when Trump, who has been a regular at the event, didn’t attend the dinner, but his sons and their wives were seen on the red carpet. Obama went all-in on his Trump jokes.
“I am a little hurt that he’s not here tonight,” Obama said referring to Trump. “It’s surprising. You got a room full of reporters, celebrities, cameras, and he says no. Is this dinner too tacky for The Donald? What could he be possibly doing instead? Eating a Trump Steak? Tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel? What’s he doing?”
Also, he made fun of Bernie Sanders, where he said that Bernie looked like a million bucks, or in terms that he will understand, like 37,000 donations of $27 each.
Democratic prediction?
While roasting politicians and celebrities, even to reporters that attended the dinner, he made a so-called joke about the 2016 presidential run, speculating that next year at this time, someone else will be standing here in this very spot, and it’s anyone guessing who she will be? Clinton reference too much?
Dropping the mic
It’s clearly that President Obama has an amazing sense of humor, adding at the end of his “speech” telling the audience he has two last words to say: “Obama out,” followed by bringing two fingers to his lips, using his other hand to lift a microphone up in front of him and dropped it in a dramatic fashion, emphasizing his great performance by “dropping the mic.”
