Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) finally commented on the “Batterygate” scandal and said that the battery performance of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus which are made with A9 chips varies only by 2 or 3 percent. It is known that many of A9 chips used in both devices, were produced by TSMC and Samsung Electronics Co.
In a press release Apple told to TechCrunch that “Its own testing and data gathered from its customers after a few weeks with the device shows that the actual battery life of both devices varies just 2-3%. That’s far, far too low to be noticeable in real-world usage.”
A9 chip performance
Apple said that the A9 chip is the most advanced smartphone chip in the world. Every chip meets the company’s highest standards for providing outstanding performance and as a result a very reasonable battery life time. It does not matter which color, model or capacity of iPhone 6s people get, each device comes with it.
“Certain manufactured lab tests which run the processors with a continuous heavy workload until the battery depletes are not representative of real-world usage, since they spend an unrealistic amount of time at the highest CPU performance state. It’s a misleading way to measure real-world battery life. Our testing and customer data shows that the actual battery life of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, even taking into account variable component differences, vary within just 2-3% of each other.” Apple stated as TechCrunch reported.
Apple explained that the difference can happen in any device, even if the iPhone have the same exact processor. The variation between your iPhone 6s and others can vary as much as 3 percent, no matter who made them. It is very difficult for people to even notice this little difference.
In addition, Apple did not want to make any comments on why there were two separate manufacturers for the A9 chips.
