President Trump takes office while protesters riot in Washington

Republican Donald John Trump assumed the country’s highest office Friday amid waves of celebration and joy and riots from groups of anti-Trump protesters.

Even for political experts, the future of the American new era is uncertain. In his first presidential speech, he swore that he would re-establish the nation’s greatness that has been absent in the last years. In his speech, which had the presence of hundreds of thousands of Trump supporters and some ex-Presidents, he described a chaotic America in which the establishment is the first responsible. He said that elitist Washington had taken over the control as he promised to give back the power to the people.

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs,” Trump said in this speech.

Trump also stated that every decision regarding trades, federal policies, market and others, would have the American people as a priority, as he thinks the population has been forgotten by politicians.

Along with the presence of Vice-President Mike Pence, he did not say too much about his first decisions as Chief Commander but remembered some of his campaign promises on trade, immigration, and financial issues. Experts warn that it is expected a full reverse on Obama’s last policies concerning health and other aspects.

Riots in Washington created tension on Trump’s inauguration day

During the ceremony, Trump was accompanied by some important political figures like ex-Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, and of course, Barack Obama.

However, about 2 miles away from the Capitol, where the ceremony took place, several groups of protesters started mayhem in some Washington streets. These groups were equipped with crowbars and hammers while they walked in the streets destroying public property.

They vandalized businesses, spray-painted buildings, smashed news boxes and bus stop glasses as they shouted against Trump’s new Administration. This actions forced helmeted law-enforcement officers to halt the riots immediately as the panic was present among local citizens.

With batons, water hoses and pepper sprays, the police successfully managed to stop the violent protesters. Three police officers were injured in the repression missions.

The number of protesters wasn’t small, as about 500 people, some wearing masks, marked the inauguration day of President Trump with violent actions. The most violent protesters utterly destroyed some branches of important companies like Bank of America and McDonalds.

The Washington Police Department was able to detain about 50 people in the protests, and some of them were charged with rioting.

The crowd was shouting anti-Trump slogans like “Make racists fear again,” in reference with Trump’s “Make America great again.” All the incidents were reported about one a half hour before Trump gave his speech as the 45th President of the United States.
