Seoul, South Korea – Samsung is reportedly planning a third addition to the S7 series, the S7 Active. Even though the North Korean-Based company has not made an official announcement yet, the evidence and background seem to suggest the headset is coming.
For quite some time, Samsung’s latest smartphones have been followed by a variant, the Galaxy Active, and it seems that the S7 won’t be different.
The rumors for the new Active smartphone, developed for users who demand a rough and durable device, came after a listing for the Samsung Level app was updated on Sunday in the Google Play Store. In the list, the handset is mentioned as a compatible device in the latest version of the Korean manufacturer’s Samsung Level application, an application meant to work with Samsung Level Bluetooth devices.
Solid evidence
Being mentioned in the Samsung Level app is not the first or only piece of evidence that tell us the smartphone in coming. Last week, a renowned leakster @evleaks said in a Tweet that the Galaxy S7 Active would have the model number “SM-G891A” and would be referred to by the codename “Poseidon.”
This evidence matches previous data provided by a recent listing on Zauba, a website that keeps track of imports and exports in India. On March 16 a 5.1-inch phone with model number SM-G891A entered India, presumably on its way to the testing facilities found there. This model number matches that of the Galaxy S6 Active phone, which is SM-G890A.
Release date
As there is no confirmation yet, there is no way to know for sure further specifications of the gadget, not even its released date. But, what we do know is the date the two previous Active models hit the retail store.
The Galaxy S6 Active was released on June 12 last year, and its predecessor, the Galaxy S5 Active, did it too in June 2014. Those releases might suggest the S7 Active will be available as well in June.
