On Sunday, actress Sarah Jessica Parker dished about the possibility of a third silver screen installment for the Sex and the City franchise. If this is true, we might be somewhat close to watch Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha together in a new adventure onscreen.
2018 marks the 20th anniversary since the premiere of Sex and the City on HBO, and it could be a perfect time to release the third big screen adventure of the most fabulous group of friends. Back in May, the actress said that there weren’t any plans for a new Sex and the City revival. Fortunately for the fans, this might have changed, and an SATC reunion might just be around the corner.
A Golden Girls kind of version
“Fairly nearby” were the words used by actress and designer, Sarah Jessica Parker, 51, to talk about the possibility of a new Sex and the City movie. The statements were made in the CBS’ Sunday Morning.
“I will say that the idea, it rests in the butler’s pantry. Not on the table, but somebody is holding it fairly nearby.”
She also said that fans should not hold their breath waiting for a third movie, so maybe her words are not so comforting, but it gives fans a little bit of hope to see Carrie and her friends onscreen again shortly. The last Sex and the City movie was released six years ago, therefore, the timing seems perfect for another one. Jane Pauley said to Parker during the interview that everyone is likely to picture a Golden Girls kind of version of Sex and the City.
Certainly, Parker is not the only star from Sex and the City who has shown enthusiasm for a third film. The other three actresses have also shown its interest from an SATC reunion.
Sarah Jessica Parker: ‘Carrie is Childish’
Sarah Jessica Parker obtained her golden opportunity in Hollywood with Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw. She won two Emmy Awards for the show, one as a producer in 2001 (outstanding comedy series) and the other as leading actress (outstanding leading actress in a comedy series) in 2004. As well, she received four Golden Globes Awards, and she has ever since been a very popular actress.
However, she admitted on Sunday that Carrie is a bit childish. Everyone who has ever watched the series knows that Carrie believes in true love, a kind of “can’t eat, can’t sleep” love, and according to Carrie that could be a little childish given that Carrie’s idea of love is not entirely realistic. However, she also said in the interview with Pauley that playing Carrie has been a privilege for her, that she has been lucky for that. Moreover, she took the opportunity to thank fans for their support, saying that she loves them deeply.
“I feel we are a fairly intimate group, this gang of 10 million that watch the show,” said Parker. “So I feel it behooves me to be responsible for [them], and for every single thing I do.”
