SEARS strenghtening in the U.S.

It’s official! Sears Holding will close 68 Kmarts and 10 Sears stores in the next few months in the U.S.

The reason? A merchandise study from the owners that proved the existence of several unprofitable stores. It was made based on an exhaustive evaluation concerning rentability of stores, the behavior in the market, account historical and the timing of lease expirations.

Therefore, this responds to a necessity of Sears to take aggressive actions in order to strengthen the company taking into account the people involved in this change process as valuable part of the transformation.

Also, Sears expects to obtain a great gain from the liquidation of store inventory and from the sales of the corresponding real state which will allow them to meet its financial commitments and be capable of taking important improvements as its primary 2016 objective.

It is important to know that Sears is intended to change the way they serve all kind of customers, attending their necessity and thus increase their sales. All without affecting the quality of their staff and give them the value they deserve. The idea is also evolving with the market and meet their needs more effectively and profitably.

Kmart and Sears stores will start their liquidation sales on May 12 and April 29, respectively. Complete list of the impacted stores is the following:
