After three years of Daniel Craig interpreting one of the most famous secret agents worldwide, the actor seems doubtful about whether to continue or say goodbye to his 007 spy role. His last movie as James Bond might be Spectre.
After an exclusive visit to the set of Spectre, the new movie of the saga, Craig was asked several times if this movie was his last as James Bond. The movie is speculated to be the most dangerous actuation in Craig’s career. However, he declared that the experience interpreting the iconic role has been fun and he is still enjoying it.
“No – this is what’s going on at the moment. I’m enjoying this,” said the actor to BBC when they asked if he has made a decision about carrying on as Bond.
However, the actor also declared that if he acts again in another of these famous movies it will be mainly for the money and he would rather slash his wrists than do another turn as the superspy. This means that maybe the actor, after a marvelous interpretation, is ready to end his path in the saga.
“I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists… I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on,” said to BBC.
Goodbye, Bond
Craig, 47, after interpreting as the famous British spy in four movies, has transformed the character and introduced the saga into a whole new place, with a whole new Bond. But now, after four years of hard and dangerous work, he seems to be ready to let someone else take his place.
James Bond is a character that has a long and important historical trajectory. It’s a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections.
When reporters from the Red Bulletin asked Craig what they could learn from James Bond that would help them in their day-to-day lives he answered, “Nothing he’s actually a misogynist. A lot of women are drawn to him chiefly because he embodies a certain kind of danger and never sticks around for too long […] He’s very lonely. There’s a great sadness. He’s these beautiful women, but then they leave and it’s sad.”
Maybe James Bond was an important experience in Craig’s professional life, but Spectre may open the door to say goodbye.
