Tinder has just launched its Apple TV app where friends can select dating partners for others on a big screen and have a laugh while they go at it.
They have also released a series of trailers showing how Tinder can become a new source of entertainment, where even grandmothers can have a go at the dating app. Tinder is now aiming at broader audiences, making meeting someone new a completely renovated experience. Who would’ve known that one could meet its special other by sitting in the living room and swiping on its TV remote?
“Bringing people together is what we do, and we’re even more excited to be able to combine all the joys of swiping with all the comforts of home. Enjoy Tinder on Apple TV—it’s the biggest thing to hit family night since Yahtzee,” stated Tinder on its latest blog post.
How Tinder works on Apple TV
Using Tinder on Apple TV is quite easy. First, the user must head to the App Store on Apple TV and then download Tinder. After installing the app, login credentials should be introduced, allowing anyone with an account to take part in a fun group-matchmaking experience. Then the user can start swiping.
Just like the mobile app, Tinder on Apple TV lets users use the remote trackpad to find out more details about a user’s profile, swipe left, swipe right, and even enjoy the new Super Like option by swiping up. Tinder Plus subscribers can shake the remote to Rewind their latest swipe.
To get in touch with matches and to edit profiles, users must log in through their phone’s Tinder app, perhaps due to input issues and that TVs are not the best for these functions.
The launch comes just in time for the holidays when it’s easier than ever to have a party and a new source of entertainment by bringing friends and family together to swipe on potential partners. Just bring out the popcorn, the chips, and a bowl of dip to have a blast checking out whoever might end up as a Tinder match.
To have an upgraded experience, users can opt for Tinder Plus, where users under 30 years old pay $9.99 per month for a set of new features. Those over 30 years old must pay $19.99.
Tinder Plus users can swipe right indefinitely, just like it was possible to do during Tinder’s first months after launch. It also lets users change their location to different parts of the world, allowing them to meet people in places where they do not actually live, but maybe plan on visiting in the following weeks. The most useful feature by far is Rewind, which lets users re-swipe someone who they did not mean to swipe left.
Pairing up Tinder Plus with Tinder for Apple TV will transform a living room into a dating central, letting users spend their time looking for dates extensively and drive their social lives to unprecedented levels.
