The Trump team announced that Elon Musk from Tesla, Travis Kalanick from Uber, and PepsiCo’s Indra Nooyi will attend the Strategic and Policy Forum, which is oriented toward national job creation and productivity.
The most notable incorporation is Tesla’s Elon Musk since this business magnate told reporters in November that Donald Trump was not capacitated to become the United States President while admitting that Trump “doesn’t seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States.” He also warned in the days before the election that this is not the “the finest moment in our democracy in general”.
However, Tusk never showed any concern regarding Trump’s ascension to the White House, and how this could affect Tesla Motors. He did say that Hillary Clinton’s economic and financial plans were the correct ones. Four days after these declarations, Trump won the election.
PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi also talked about Trump during the campaign, as complained about their comments regarding women.
Trump’s advisors and Silicon Valley
During the presidential campaign, Silicon Valley and Donald Trump disagreed on several matters. Immigration, government surveillance, and encryption are among the topics that are frightening companies in the San Francisco Bay Area when Trump becomes President.
For this reason, in a move to smooth things up, this Wednesday in the Trump Tower, Manhattan, there will be a meeting that will gather some of the most influential people in businesses and corporations across the U.S. In the past, Silicon Valley has supported both President Obama and ex-Candidate Hillary Clinton. However, Trump is sure that this group of people will help him when it comes to economic policies.
“America has the most innovative and vibrant companies in the world, and the pioneering CEOs joining this Forum today are at the top of their fields. My administration is going to work together with the private sector to improve the business climate and make it attractive for firms to create new jobs across the United States from Silicon Valley to the heartland,” Trump said in a statement Wednesday morning.
Among the attendants to the event, there are Apple CEO Tim Cook, Facebook Inc’s Sheryl Sandberg, Oracle CEO Safra Catz, Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos, Ginni Rometty from IBM and Mary Barra from GM.
The presence of both Cook and Rusk will represent a different approach to employment management to the forum. Apple, since its foundation, has sustained under a chain of supply that has its core installations internationally. Apple founder Steve Jobs once said to President Obama, that because of cost and flexibility, all the handwork will keep overseas, meaning that those jobs “are not coming back.”
However, Elon Musk has managed a different productivity policy. Not only Tesla Motors but SpaceX, also owned by Musk, are famous for having manufacturing industries across the country. In fact, Musk announced this year that his new company, Solar City, will produce over 6,500 jobs by 2020, all available for American professionals. This vision is one of the primary objectives of Trump´s administration, as he expects for companies to start producing in America and not overseas.
