Twitter will support live broadcast from periscope directly in its app

Twitter (NASDAQ: TWTR), will support live streaming from Periscope directly in the Twitter iOS app, according to a blog post from the company. The new update will be available in a few days. Since the live video app Periscope was launched last year, users, journalists, presidents, and many artists have done more than 100 million of broadcasts.

To make the experience of using Twitter and Periscope more fluent, the company added the capability of displaying live broadcasts in the feeds of the users without leaving the app. Many social networks and services providers have made alliances in the last year in order to add auto-play content in more direct ways.

Since last year, Twitter users are able to enjoy auto-play videos when looking at tweets, which created a great experience that was well perceived by thousands of people. Other social networks such as Facebook, which also offers an auto-play video function, has allied with streaming music providers such as Spotify and Apple Music to auto-play songs which are shared or added by users.

“We’ve always wanted to make it as easy as possible to watch and broadcast live video. See the world through someone else’s eyes — that’s been our mission since day one. Today, we’re bringing this vision directly into Twitter by making it possible to watch broadcasts without leaving the Twitter app.” Wrote the Periscope team in a press release on Tuesday.

It was remarked that users don’t even need to have the Periscope app installed, neither a Periscope account, since the links of the transmissions will be replaced by the live broadcasts, which will be automatically played.

A very good advantage that this new update offers, is that users will be allowed to reach their followers and the Twitter audience in a more simpler and accessible way, which could lead to an increment of the followers and to a more rich and complete experience.

The new app will be available in a few days for iOS users, and later it will be introduced in Android and other mobile platforms, Periscope announced. The new functions come as the company wants to increase the segment of engaged users. Last week it was rumored that Twitter is working to allow people to publish messages longer than 140 characters.

“Both Twitter and Periscope show you what’s going on in the world, right now — whether that’s outside your window or across the globe. Today, we’re making it easier to see what’s happening by bringing Periscope broadcasts — both live and replays — directly into Tweets.” Said Kayvon Beykpour, Periscope CEO and Co-founder in a statement.

Sources seem to suggest that Twitter will support content of up to 10,000 characters, because people want to enjoy more deeper contents, everyday. However, a new button will be added to display contents longer than 140 characters in order to maintain the way people already look at tweets.

According to Twitter’s official website, the social network has more than 320 million active users per month, who mostly use the platform from mobile devices (80 percent). Even more impressive, every month there are 1 billion unique visits to sites with embedded tweets, wrote the company.
