Vans will be working together with Nintendo to release a line of sneakers that will draw inspiration from some of the company’s first-party franchises.
There has been no information of an official release date, but that same European shoe site has them listed to be released sometime this June. This would now be a great time to save up some rupees as limited-shoes like these tends to cost a lot and go a whole lot quicker.
8-bit Nostalgia
This limited-edition Nintendo shoe line will include sneakers inspired from the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super Mario, Donkey Kong, Duck Hunter, a Princess Peach model, and, of course, The Legend of Zelda. This Nintendo X Vans collaboration even includes new shirts and sandals that will arrive alongside the sneaker lineup. The shoes will be sold on the German sneakers store 43Einhalb and the sale will start in June.
Walking over Nintendo’s Shoes
This isn’t the first time Nintendo teams up with a well-known sneakers brand. Back in 2014 Nintendo along with Converse released some Mario Bros. inspired shoes that were released only in Japan.
There were available 2 models: A Mario-red inspired shoe with a gold star and the Bowser-themed green with a white star version. Both were released in August of that year at the price of 21,600 Yen ($211) including tax. Also, they were available in size 5 to 12 for men and 6.5 to 13.5 for women.
Also, back in 2011 the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star with an 8-bit Super Mario Bros. that might bring back some memories of the late 80s for anyone who was alive back then. Those all-over 8-bit print capturing Nintendo’s favorite and beloved plumber in a variety of poses on the sneakers.
Mario’s faithfully reproduced on the special edition box as well, his run along the ground on the side of the box enough to have you searching for the old “B” button to make him go faster to the goal. They hit the market in Japan back in July of that year.
