June statistics from Steam’s Hardware and Software Survey show that Microsoft’s Windows 10 is leading the operating system used by gamers. These new data represents an increase of 3.38 percent in contrast to the numbers published in May.
This is not the first time Microsoft’s latest operating system is on top of the Steam rank regarding hardware and software, but it is news that the operating system is leading the race for the past five months. Steam is an entertainment platform that offers digital rights management, multiplayer gaming, social network services and statistics about the gamer world. It also provides the ability to install easily and automatically update games on multiple computers.
The platform developed by Valve Corporation conducts a monthly survey to collect data about PC video card usage by Mfg, PC number of CPUs per computer, PC processors usage by manufacturers, VR headsets, Mac hardware ownership and, DX 10/11/12 systems.
But three months ago the data showed that Windows 10 had 38.28% of Steam gamers use and Windows 7 39.96% of the service user’s. This month Windows 7 drop 1.74%
According to Steam study, 95.5% of games on Steam use Windows for their gaming needs. The other OS used by Steam users represent the remaining 0.5%, but their data do not specify which ones.
Other numbers revealed by Steam indicate that 32.30% of its gamers that use Window have 8GB of RAM installed on their systems, and more than 75% depend on Intel CPUs. The rest uses AMD CPUs.

It seems that in the next few month the Windows 10 trend is going to keep raising, and the company is already working to assure its success among gamers. According to Neowin, Microsoft latest OS will attract more users by offering AAA games like Gears of War, Forza, and Rise of the Tomb Raider in the Windows store, and the company will also introduce cross-platform gaming programs like Xbox Play Anywhere to motivate gamers to upgrade to the latest Windows version.
Microsoft announced that Windows 10 had become one of the largest online services in less than a year, with more than 300 million active devices worldwide, Winbeta reports.
Windows 10 was launched almost one year ago, and Microsoft announced that the free update would end on July 29. After this date, to get the OS will cost $119.

Other variables in Steam June Statistics
Regarding PC video card usage details, 68.66% of Steam gamers use DirectX 12 GPUs and 47.21% use 2 CPU.
There is 50.17% MacBook Pro owners and the most used PC processor usage by manufacturers is INTEL. And when it comes to VR headsets, HTC Vive is leading the numbers with 66%.
