Google along with the Taiwanese company ASUS, presented earlier this year a new HDMI device with Chrome operating system (OS) inside of it. The denominated Chromebit is a small device similar to the Chromecast, which lets you run the operating system based on Google’s cloud from any screen with this type of port.

The device, which resembles a large size USB drive, can be plugged into the back of a TV through an HDMI port, and once connected, users will see the Chrome interface on the TV. “Simply plug the device into any display and you can turn it into a computer,” explained Google.

The Chromebit was launched on the market for just $85, (becoming the cheapest among the competition) and has the lightness of only 75 grams, which helps keep the device from bending or stressing out an HDMI port once plugged in.

The Chromebit is powered by a Rockchip quad-core processor, and features 802.11ac WiFi. It comes with 16 GB of built-in storage, 2 GB of RAM, and features a 2.0 USB connection to other peripherals, like keyboard and mouse, using Bluetooth 4.0 processor.

Active people may carry the computer stick in their bags, knowing that they can take their job anywhere in any screen. Average user might be able to use one as a complement to a regular transmission device.

The expert Jared Newman from Fast Company’s commented on how the Chromebit handles streaming, saying: “The Chromebit is better suited as a lightweight desktop computer. If you’ve got a spare monitor sitting around, you can plug in the Chromebit, connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and put the whole setup in the kitchen, family room, or anywhere else you might want to access a full web browser,” as posted on Tech Spot.

Google Chromebit has been officially launched in the United States, expecting to reach many more countries, among which are Spain, UK, Japan and Sweden.
