On Wednesday afternoon, an off-duty Los Angeles police officer shot a man inside a restaurant in the city of Covina. According to recent reports, the man was attempting to commit a robbery, before the officer shot him.
Authorities and paramedics were informed about a gunshot happening at a Carl’s Jr. restaurant in Covina city around 3 p.m in the afternoon. When police officers and paramedics arrived, the man was suffering gunshot wounds. Recent statements have explained the subject was trying to rob the officer in the restaurant located in the 500 block of North Azusa Avenue. Covina police have informed the man showed a gun to the off-duty officer.
After paramedics and authorities arrived at the location, the subject passed away because of gunshot injuries. Nor the man or the LAPD officer have been identified yet, but statements assure the off-duty LAPD member was alright at the scene.

Shootings in Covina
The city is located 22 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, with a population of 47,796 as of 2010. Covina is rated as the 28 safest cities in the United States with 116 annual violent crimes and 119 property crimes.
Covina doesn’t experience great crime rates, with few rapes, robberies, murders, and assaults. Nonetheless, the city experiences a nation known shooting in 2008 that is popularly known as the “Covina shooting.”
During the 2008 holidays, on December 24 a man entered his ex-wife’s house dressed as Santa Claus carrying guns and a flamethrower. The fire left nine victims and several wounded, including an 8-year-old girl. Bruce Jeffrey Pardo, who was recently divorcing his wife and had lost a job in the past months, killed nine people and burned down the house of his ex-wife, who was throwing a Christmas party.
Cova shot an 8-year-old girl who opened the door and proceeded to shoot people in the party sporadically. Later on, he opened a present he was holding and opened fire with a homemade flamethrower. Popular pop-culture has addressed the shooting in several matters, such as music videos and songs.

Pardo was later found dead at his brother’s house, according to authorities the man shot himself and left a bomb inside a car he had recently rented.
