The Cleveland Browns will soon welcome the rookie of the year Robert Griffin III to its NFL team. The former quarterback for the Washington Redskins Robert Griffin III made his deal with the Browns official as he signed with the team on Thursday.
The renowned player Griffin will have the opportunity to become the newest quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, said an ESPN report. Depending on his performance during the 2016 season as an opener for Cleveland the chances on whether the team considers extending his contract shows promise.
Considering that the season of 2012 was great for Griffin as his performance as a rookie was highlighted when the Washington Redskins won their first division in over a decade, his 2016 upcoming season shows even more promise. The 2013 season was a bittersweet year for Griffin, as he won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the year award. However, he also injured himself pretty badly in a playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.
He’s starting this year’s season with impressive records on passing yards as well as a third place ranking in the NFL behind Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. His total QBRs that gave him a third place on the 2012’s NFL rankings were dangerously close to Brady’s with 76 against 77 accordingly. Peyton Manning, however, stayed on top of the NFL’s rankings with a not so far total QBR of 83.
It’s Official
Griffin has concluded the deal with Cleveland that will settle him for $6.75 million for a two-year contract. Moreover, aside the guaranteed $6.75 million, Griffin’s contract will also include a $3.5 million signing bonus.
A generous offer from the Cleveland team as the Browns have previously selected four quarterbacks in the first round since over 16 years ago.
Amazingly enough, the famed NFL player will also have a base value of $15 million while the maximum value contains performance incentives up to $22 million. Considering that Griffin will have motivation enough to pursue an outstanding performance for the upcoming NFL season, fans can expect an altered game strategy.
Griffin expressed his excitement about joining the Cleveland team in a statement as he said he was looking forward to join the Dawg Pound. Alongside Griffin’s new addition to the Cleveland Browns, head coach Hue Jackson will also try to lead the team to victory in this year’s NFL season.
