The WWE top star, Joe Anoa’i, better known as Roman Reigns, was suspended from the company for 30 days active. According to WWE.com, this was due to a violation of their wellness policy.

It is an unspoken law that, during this suspension, the violator is not to be mentioned by the WWE members in public appearances. Nevertheless, coworker Seth Rollins dedicated a few words in his name during this Monday’s edition of Raw.

“This is live television, and I have a microphone,” he said. “So let’s talk about it.”

He admitted to the public that the “mistake” Reigns made affected him as well.

“Let’s talk about how the biggest mistake Roman Reigns ever made, the Roman Reigns scandal, embarrassed me – because as the architect of The Shield, I brought Roman Reigns into the fold. And that mistake that he made that got him suspended, that embarrasses me. That soils my good name,” he told the audience.

Just a day before his suspension on June 21st, it was announced he would feature in a triple-threat match on the 24th, and Rollins didn’t let it slip that he thinks Reigns should be removed from the main event at Battleground.

The timing of his punishment had turned out to be curious to fans and speculators, who consider it to be more than a coincidence since it was just a few days before that he lost his title, but he could serve his sentence just in time to make the next big pay-per-view event.

In spite of this, Reigns himself made a statement regarding the subject. The heavyweight star took to Twitter to address anyone interested.

“I apologize to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy. No excuses. I own it,” he wrote.

Obviously, and to the delight of many, Rollins himself read this statement out loud to the crowd, making fun of Reigns. This single tweet has been liked over 28,000 times and shared more than 14,000 times, so there’s no denying that the suspension took most people by surprise and that we can’t wait to see what’s to come.

The suspension of Reign is attributed to drug use

Though there has not been a public statement about the reasons for Reigns’ suspension, there are strong speculations over drug use as the violation of WWE’s wellness policy, since it requires receiving frequent drug tests of their performers.

Steroids and substance abuse are a constant subject the WWE deals with. A famous case happened back in 2008 when the company suspended wrestler Jeff Hardy for drug addiction. It was his second suspension, so the penance lasted for 60 days. One more suspension would end up in the company firing Hardy.

After his return, WWE paired him to CM Punk in a ladder match, which Hardy lose. Two weeks later, he was arrested at his home, where officials found 180 Soma prescription pills, 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, residuals of powder cocaine and drug-related items.
