FLORIDA- According to WFLA, a paralyzed puppy was dropped off by its owner at a Florida animal shelter. Shelter’s workers said that Genie, the puppy, was left with a note that left them broken hearted.
In the letter, Genie’s owner explained that she could no longer take care of Genie in due the condition she had. She also asked the shelter to help her save Genie.
“Please help my Genie. Genie (her name) is paralyzed from I believe her hips to her hind legs. I tried to manage her pain with medication from her vet but they only ease her pain and she needs surgery. I cannot afford so I ask that the Animal Health Center heal her and find her a loving forever home. Thank you,” the letter read.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay started looking for a way to help Genie and provide her the medical care she needed. On Tuesday, they posted a status update on Facebook with a photo of Genie and a photo of the note, which was written on crumpled notebook paper.
They claimed that Genie was left paralyzed and afraid on their doorstep with a note asking for help. The shelter added that they will work hard to heal her body and mend her “grieving” heart.
Donators are helping Genie to receive a proper treatment
On the same Facebook post, The Humane Society of Tampa Bay asks for the help of people in order to help Genie, and others homeless pets who will follow her, to find a loving home.
On Friday, the shelter shared on Facebook that they have raised more than $20,000 for their animals in need, including Genie. They thanked everyone who helped then reach – an exceed – their goal. They affirmed that the money has already been marked for pets who need their help.
Genie is feeling better and continues to show braveness in the face of her circumstance, said the shelter on Facebook.
